Born in 1962 in Campbeltown, Argyll, Cara McKinnon Crawford’s inherent gift in the handling of oils was honed during her Glasgow School of Art training, with her profession developing extensively over the ensuing 40 years. Recognised internationally as an exponent of the great Scottish Colourist tradition, her intuitive mastery in the handling of light and colour has naturally resulted in her work being collected and shown extensively, with a client base from the Scottish Parliament to ExxonMobil and many private collections worldwide. As a full-time practising artist for many years, and a canvas extending from her native Highland roots across to Europe, a Cara Mckinnon Crawford oil painting is instantly recognisable for its true representation of the artists vision. However, her palette is never restricted or confined by subject matter, fashion or influence.
Cara McKinnon Crawford
Cara is a painter who continues the practice of painting on site, something rarely seen today, pushing the boundaries and actively seeking out new subjects she describes Scotland as her canvas.
To own a piece of her work is to invest in a permanent Scottish Colourist tradition.
